Twitter Less Experiment: Day One
It's 8:30 PM on Saturday November 5, 2022 and I just deleted the Twitter App from my phone.
Over the last few months I have found myself thinking, “what if I just delete Twitter off my phone?” I’d still use it, mind you, just not on my phone. I did this with Facebook awhile back so it shouldn’t be too hard. Well, each and every time I had this thought I would talk myself out of it.
The reasons for NOT deleting the app were more abundant than my will to do it.
Then, I don’t know if you have been following the news, but a lot has been happening with Twitter this last week. You…you can Google it to get up to speed but the long story short is that Elon Musk bought the company for $44 Billion and it has not been going great.
A lot of people have been talking about leaving it. I’m not one of those people. In small doses I find it to be pretty entertaining.
So, tonight as I was mindlessly scrolling waiting for my kids to go to bed I had a thought, “just delete it.” I started to tell myself all the reasons why I can’t do it, but then I thought, “no, do it.”
So I did it. I’m going to force myself to stick to this for one week.
Now, just to be clear - I’m still going to check Twitter. I just will have to do it via a browser. I might find myself mindlessly scrolling, but it will be when I’m already sitting down in front of a computer.
How will this go? Good question. I don’t know, but I’m kind of excited to find out.
